After a few days of riding, I got good—and a little cocky. I’d weave through pedestrians, and ride gleefully in the bike lane and among the cars. (Don’t worry, I hate me, too.) I’d charge through lights about to turn red, all the while making vroom-vroom sounds in my head. Then one rainy day, I made a sharp right turn, and my back wheel didn’t come with me. One nastily scraped knee later, I ride a lot more carefully.
“These scooters literally just began showing up on our streets last fall,” said Anuj Gupta, Santa Monica’s deputy city manager and director of policy. “The challenge is electric scooters for adults they decided to launch first and figure it out later.”
Powered by a 500 Watt gear hub motor, Ojo electric scooter can go up to 20mph, and patented gear system improves its power and hill climbing ability. Functional onboard charger with retractable cord means that you won’t have to lug around a charger with you, and you will be able to power up your scooter simply by plugging it into standard wall outlet. The internal Li-Ion batteries allow for 25 mile range on a full charge.
I really like the grow ped. I had trouble balancing on the little decks and this one has a really wide one. it’s easy to stay on it. the wheels are cool, too. i don’t have any trouble on bumps like i used to with my old razor.
Oh, and speaking of mechanical things, I swapped out the massively heavy stock lead acid batteries for LiPo batteries bought elsewhere (as well as over-volted by around 10v or so) and the difference is phenomenal. I dropped probably around 30 pounds from the scooter and increased the top speed from 21mph to high 20s (27-30 depending on incline). If you can afford to upgrade to lithium batteries, I highly recommend doing so!
At the root of the battle between Bird and the city of Santa Monica is an issue that has increasingly confronted municipal governments facing new tech and business models — a lack of directly applicable existing regulation and precedents.

In the pic above, this main frame version is actually shown after several attempts at a build-up. Here, it has had a steel pipe welded-in to form a top-tube, which strengthens the frame in a well-known way used by moped hot-rodders. The hollow down-tube section is normally used as the fuel tank, and will now house batteries.

In 1967, Karl Kordesch, working for Union Carbide, made a fuel cell/Nickel–cadmium battery hybrid electric motorcycle. It was later replaced with a hydrazine fuel cell, giving it a range of 200 miles (320 km) per gallon and a top speed of 25 mph (40 km/h).[10][11]
Here is an electric bike made from the frame of a Puch Maxi moped. The builder is a young man named Bernd, who lives in Korneuburg (near Vienna), in the beautiful country of Austria. Although a moped frame is an unconventional choice, this frame style allowed Bernd (endless-sphere member puchwudi) to hide the significant battery pack inside the frame.
Electric and gasoline powered motorcycles and scooters of the same size and weight are roughly comparable in performance.[60] In August 2013 Road and Track evaluated a high-end electric motorcycle as faster and better handling than any conventionally powered bike.[61] Electric machines have better 0 to 60 acceleration, since they develop full torque immediately, and without a clutch the torque is instantly available.[62][63]

I bought this, frankly, for one reason… to see if I could fit it in my Cessna 172 to use as a means of transportation when flying to the grass strip that is 2 miles from our cabin. I asked around on all the typical plane forums and most people said not to buy it. “It’s too heavy, it won’t fit, get a folding bike instead, blah blah blah.”
It uses 24V Seal battery system and can charge in just 12 hours. When you have just bought it, you need to charge it for 12 hours and the lights will go green by the time. So, technically it is not taking much time to get recharged. You may like it as it takes less time to get recharged. It can run 40 minutes continuously which is far more time than any other scooters. You can go to sleep at the night and get your scooter recharged at morning.
As we said in the second paragraph, commuting to work is fun because of the leisurely benefits that are involved in getting to work. You can basically be strolling down to work with an electric scooter with the ability to not lift a finger or break a sweat.
The more comfortable you are in your electric moped seat; it means that you are in a better position to concentrate effectively on the road. If you are likely to drive for those long hours of your day, you better get an even more comfortable seat. An adjustable seat is a plus, especially for those of us who happen to be tall.
Handles the max weight and then some fine. It’s not fast, but does alright. Handles a nearby hill surprisingly well. The scooter slows down, but never stops as it climbs what I can only describe as a normal city-sloped hill (not San Fran, but not flat either, I don’t know).
