Hong Kong based Niu has managed to raise $20 million to develop two families of electric scooters that are connected and smart. They also played in crowdfunding with impressive results. Niu had the largest pre-sale in China history selling almost $11 million of the below scooter in just 15 days.
The disadvantages of the EcoReco S5 e-scooter are that it does not have a headlight or taillight (most e-scooters don’t have one) and thus if you wish to ride it at night you have to attach one (many attachable lights are available on Amazon and other retailers). It is not very portable for an average person who is not used to lifting slightly heavy objects due to its weight (35 lbs). The backlit LCD display is not very well positioned and thus requires some slight adjustments for readability when riding this adult electric scooter.
What you will get, though, is brilliant industrial design. While other moped and scooter companies are striving to make all their models look like Tron light cycles, Mr. Meijs has gone full retro. The Motorman—with its balloon tires, low-slung gas tank, oversized headlight, and spring-mounted leather seat—looks like a cross between a Schwinn cruiser and a 1915 Harley-Davidson.
We recently began paying attention to mopeds when we noticed a new trend this year in using moped rims and tires for hot rod hubmotors on electric bicycles. Here is a pic of a Puch Maxi (German, pronounced Pook) in full 50cc stock form.
The scooter has a really unique design and comes in two colors namely sky blue and black. It can be used by both men and women. The LED display on the scooter shows battery life and speed. The switch lets you start and shut the scooter in just one go.
Bird, which rolled out in San Diego two weeks ago and has plans to go national and international, according to its jobs listings, has begun giving out free helmets to its users. They can be ordered from the “safety” latest moped and scooter technology in the app. So far, it has delivered 2,500 helmets. I ordered one Monday, although I am a rebel at heart and did not use one on my first two rides. (Don’t disable me, bro!)
The scooter comes with a sleek black design that is sure to turn heads when you take it on the roads. The adjustable seats make it easy for the people to sit comfortably while driving. Additionally, the seat can be detached to make it a standing and riding scooter at any time.
I’m in love with the EcoSmart Metro Electric. At first glance you could mistake it for a vintage bicycle. It’s got a classic look to it, bolstered by a bamboo deck, awesome powder-coated frame, and detachable luggage rack.
This is a 750w motorized bike that goes around 20 mph and reaches up to 35 miles per charge (in ideal circumstances). Because it is technically classified as an electric bicycle GigaByke Groove can be ridden without a license or insurance in most US states. It can comfortably transport two riders, and even has a foldable pegs for the passenger. Because of the steel frame and Lead Acid batteries it is heavy (148lbs) and rather uncomfortable for pedaling. However the motor makes up for this with the smooth ride and the ability to control speed with twist throttle. It also has lights, fenders, mirrors and a very sturdy build with front and rear suspension. All in all, it is a great deal, considering it is truly a proper vehicle at a very decent price.
Bought this for my 13 year old son keep in mind he’s never ridden a bike and he loved it. It d very easy for him to adapt and even go top speed. This thing is fast! The weight limit is 250 lbs and I tried it out when I needed to go down to the Quik Stop when my husband had the car. I weigh 280 lbs and the scooter hauls, I had to keep it at half speed lol. It charges faster than advertised but we also don’t drain the battery completely. It’s an awesome toy for teens and adults and I love the seat option, it’s definitely a plus.

Gloves should be worn regardless or weather, and there are different types for warm and cold weather. Warm weather gloves are usually leather or Kevlar and good ones have carbon fiber knuckle protection and are un-insulated but provide protection should you fall. Winter gloves provide the same level of protection, but are insulated. Waterproofing is also a good idea.

Since the charging time is 12 hours minimum and up to 24 hours, you should buy this electric scooter only if you have around an hour or so of total travelling planned on a daily basis. If you want to do long journeys then you will need to go for an upgraded electric moped with a bigger battery system that delivers more usage time.
We’ve been writing about all kinds of scooters for years, but because of high oil prices, they’re now seeing a renaissance of sorts. With 30% of Americans saying they would consider riding a scooter–even some people we wouldn’t expect to–and sales of scooters up by 200% (and that was as of two years ago), now seems like a perfect time to revisit some of our past scooter coverage and bring it all together. Following are our favorite electric scooters, including production models and concepts:
In Florida, drivers must be at least 16 years old and have a valid Class E driver’s license to ride an electric scooter in the state of Florida. No registration, insurance or license plates are required. Each city allows drivers to ride their motorized scooter on certain locations only but not on the sidewalks.
In 1919, Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies made a prototype electric motorcycle in which the batteries were fitted under the seat of the sidecar. Even though the vehicle was registered for road use, it never went past the trial stage.[5]
One thing that makes electric scooters for adults different from other battery-powered vehicles is the range of styles: it might be an electrically boosted old-school Razor-style kick scooter, a fancy seated electric ride from some hip startup, or a two-wheeler that looks exactly like its gas-powered counterparts. As the battery, charging technology and electric motor efficiency advances, these scooters get more and more appealing and increasingly popular year after year.

This electric scooter has won the hearts of many people for many reasons. One, it’s very easy to ride and operate. Two, it’s fairly fast but very silent. Three, it features a simple but high-quality frame that can support heavy people. Four, it comes with a removable seat that improves handling and storage. It also gets positive reviews for its decent speed, high torque, and good power.
It depends on where you live. In many states, you cannot. In California, the GenZe 2.0 is considered a motorized bicycle in the eyes of the law (Vehicle Code 406). According to the Vehicle Code 21207.5, it states that:
Glion call it the most efficient last-mile commuting transport ever and the combination of storage, trolley system and upright standing mode seem to bear this out. The controls are waterproof, which is an unusual feature in electric scooters so you can take it out in light rain. This Dolly is a best seller and the buyers reviews are generally excellent which give a lot of confidence when buying. A bona fide adult electric scooter rather than a kids toy, The Glion Dolly is a must-have for anyone who needs to replace their bicycle on the daily commute.
To protect your legs, it’s worth it to invest in pants made specifically for motorcycle riders. Like a jacket, good pants will be made of leather, nylon, or Kevlar. For winter riding, pants can not only offer protection, they can keep you warm. Insulated pants or chaps are a good choice and can be bought coated for rain resistance.
The head, arms, and legs are the most often injured in a crash. To Protect your head, always wear a helmet. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): “Motorcycle helmets are 67-percent effective in preventing brain and face injuries. Unhelmeted motorcyclists are more than three times more likely to suffer brain injuries in crashes than those using helmets.” Buy a helmet safety approved by the Department of Transportation. It will have “D.O.T.” stamped on the back, near the base. It should fit snugly, allowing very little head movement within the helmet.
Thank you so much for the friendly service. I am so happy I found you on the internet. My Mobility Scooter is not only practical for me it is also oh!! so much fun to ride. I recently talked to your service mechanic he was above and beyond friendly and helpful. I was nervous about buying something of this price over the internet but it turned out to be a good experience.
